Los Angeles Lakers star Russell Westbrook has been outperformed by the crew they sent to the Washington Wizards as part of the trade. The former MVP's Purple & Gold debut season has yet to really take shape as Westbrook continues to settle in his new role for the Lakers. And, on the contrary, Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who were all shipped to DC as part of the blockbuster trade, are all playing quite well.

We all know that Westbrook is quite careless with the rock but, putting things into perspective, his turnover numbers this season have been quite shocking when you compare it with the former Lakers trio that's now playing in Washington. According to StatMuse, Westbrook is now averaging more turnovers (5.1 per game) compared to Kuzma, KCP, and Harrell combined (4.2 per game).

I know it's pretty early but with the way things look right now, it clearly seems that the Wizards won that trade. Washington is at the top of the East while the Lakers are still stuck in the seventh spot in the West.

Westbrook has clearly been struggling for the Lakers – for lack of a better term. Obviously, the three former Lakers aren't primary ball handlers. But, the fact that they're all averaging fewer turnovers altogether while playing at least 30 minutes per game, respectively, compared to Westbrook is definitely something worth noting.

Expectations were high after Westbrook packed his bags and moved back home to Hollywood to play for the Lakers. Brodie had a terrific one-year season with the Wizards last year where he ended up with his fourth triple-double season in his entire career, helping the Wizards book a spot in the 2021 NBA Playoffs.

Unfortunately, the adjustment with playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis has been challenging for the former MVP. And, with James still out nursing an abdominal injury, the Lakers have been searching for a leader and, so far, it hasn't been the former MVP.

Numbers like this don't necessarily paint the whole picture but it can help explain why Laker Nation hasn't been quite happy with Russell Westbrook so far.
