Shareef O'Neal, son of Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O'Neal, got a new set of tattoos to honor Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna.

Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash outside Los Angeles on Jan. 26 at the age of 41. Sadly, all nine passengers on the flight were killed, including Gianna. According to several reports, the group was on their way to the Mamba Sports Academy, where Kobe was to serve as a coach for his daughter's basketball team.

Loads of athletes from around the globe have chimed in with unique ways to show their respects to Bryant. Some wrote heartfelt letters on social media, while others stood vigil outside Staples Center in the days after his tragic death. Shareef, who recently announced that he was leaving UCLA, chose a route that will stand the test of time.

Shareef's new tattoo features Kobe's Lakers numbers (8 and 24), his “Mamba Mentality” motto, as well as his trademark branding logo. Shareef also honored Gianna by inking her No. 2 Mamba Sports Academy jersey on his leg:

A five-time champion and 18-time All-Star with the Lakers, Kobe Bryant will be remembered as one of the greatest athletes the NBA has ever known. Though he was taken far too soon, the memories and legacy he left behind will serve as inspiration to his followers.
