Vanessa Bryant, the widow of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, has come out in solidarity with all the people who are calling for justice after the recent death of George Floyd at the hands of Minnesota police officers.

Vanessa posted an old photo of her husband wearing the infamous “I Can't Breathe” shirt from six years ago:

As Vanessa explained above, we're all in the same predicament again. Six years ago, Eric Garner also died at the hands of the police, and as his arrest and eventual death were captured on video, Garner repeated “I can't breathe” over and over.

Vanessa is also drawing from her own experience of losing a loved one so tragically and unexpectedly. From her perspective, life is too short and too precious to let hate and bigotry in. The Lakers also released their own statement condemning racism on Saturday.

Vanessa then went on to send out a reminder to the people who have taken the streets. With several protests turning into looting sessions, Vanessa has sent a stern message that this act remains inexcusable, regardless of the circumstances. Yes, people are frustrated and helpless and angry, but this does not justify any act that is against the law.

Finally, Vanessa also reiterated the importance of making one's voice heard through the election. The United States is a democracy for a reason, and it is important for each and every citizen to literally be counted and be heard through the proper channel.
