It has been a just over two years since Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others died in a helicopter crash just outside of Los Angeles. After the awful tragedy, the country wept, particularly basketball fans. Mourning fans eventually used art as a way to grieve the loss of an icon whose importance goes far beyond basketball.

On Wednesday, Vanessa Bryant visited one of the many murals that can be found all around Los Angeles. She then posted on Instagram with an image of her in a classic car in front of the mural.

The gorgeous mural pictures Kobe kissing one of his young daughters. Vanessa Bryant understandably acknowledges her difficulty even looking at the mural.

It was January 26, 2020, when, seemingly, the whole world stood still. Kobe Bryant was taking his daughter Gianna to a youth basketball game in Thousand Oaks, California. They were joined by John, Keri, and Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah and Payton Chester, Christina Mauser, and Ara Zobayan.

The helicopter pilot reportedly attempted a maneuver low to the ground with poor visibility that morning. The low-lying status layer and relatively high rising terrain make for a difficult combination for any pilot. Even though investigations into the accident did not uncover anything physically wrong with the helicopter, it was notable that it did not have TAWS. The Terrain Awareness Warning System alerts pilots if they get dangerously close to the ground.

Kobe and Gianna Bryant are survived by Vanessa and their three daughters, Bianka, Natalia, and Capri.
