After weeks of speculation, the Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly chosen to add another player to their roster. Dion Waiters joins Markieff Morris as the latest additions to the team following Troy Daniels and the team agreeing to part ways.

According to NBA Insider Shams Charania, the Lakers might not be done making moves to bolster their roster ahead of the NBA playoffs.

“The Lakers are still holding out the option to potentially add a shooter down the line,” Charania said. “They worked out J.R. Smith as well on Monday, but in Waiters, there's some familiarity. Rob Pelinka was his agent prior to Waiters joining the Lakers in the front office.”

With the Lakers keeping their options open moving forward, it may not be out of the realm of possibility that they bring in J.R. Smith to add to their bench. Obviously, they'd have to waive another player to open the roster spot.

As Charania noted, the Lakers worked out Smith on the same day they brought in Waiters for a workout. Waiters clearly made an impression, but not much has been said about Smith's workout and whether it impressed the Lakers brass enough to potentially sign him at some point.

Only time will tell whether Los Angeles decides to bring in Smith or another shooter on the free-agent market, but right now the team is focused on the upcoming matchups against the Milwaukee Bucks and L.A. Clippers this weekend. Both of these title-contending teams have beaten LeBron James and company earlier in the season.
