Could we see a potential banana boat team up in Los Angeles? There's some buzz that has emerged with Carmelo Anthony being linked to a possible move to the Lakers.

The star who last played for the Portland Trail Blazers is currently a free agent this offseason, with the 18-year NBA veteran still adamant he can contribute to a winning situation.

“The Lakers seem like the most likely landing spot for Carmelo Anthony if he leaves Portland in free agency. Both sides have a high level of interest in each other.”

Melo is currently 37 years old and is clearly far from the player he once was who could effortlessly put up 30 points on any given night. He posted averages of 13.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in nearly 25 minutes per game for the Blazers.

If there's anything he can contribute to the Lakers in any potential move, it's his outside shooting. Melo had the best 3-point shooting year of his lengthy career last season, transforming himself into a deadeye shooter who knocked down over 40% of his attempts from distance. That's a problem area that the Lakers are definitely hoping to address before the season starts.

LeBron James and the Lakers certainly have some tinkering to do in the offseason if they want to get back on top. But given the low price tag, maybe taking a flier on Carmelo Anthony could be worth it.
