Despite a recent stance that he is wanting to stay put, the rumor mill indicates All-Star point guard Damian Lillard could be bound for a move down south.

According to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, rumblings of Lillard wanting a potential move to the Los Angeles Lakers could have some truth to them.

“I've been hearing that in the wind for several months now,” said Shelburne, according to ESPN Los Angeles.

Lillard has come across as a loyal member of the Portland Trail Blazers, and the front office has re-assured that very sentiment, giving no indication that either he or frontcourt partner C.J. McCollum would be traded in the near future.

Though recent disappointments could spell a different end for the Blazers backcourt, as they followed an impressive third-place finish in the Western Conference with an awful postseason, getting swept by the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round of the playoffs.

Some would consider McCollum more likely to leave than Lillard, as the latter has been a staple in the community and the long-established franchise player after the departure of LaMarcus Aldridge.

Trading Lillard could prove to be career suicide for general manager Neil Olshey, who has already gotten flack for some inflated contracts within the roster.

As for the Lakers, trading for Lillard would surely signify parting ways with Lonzo Ball, as his growth would stall with a perennial All-Star presence playing in front of him.
