The Los Angeles Lakers confirmed the inevitable on Monday after they announced the firing of Frank Vogel as the team's head coach. Several names have already emerged as his potential successor but one candidate appears to already be out of the running even before it has officially started.

According to Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, the odds of Utah Jazz coach Quin Snyder taking over the helm in LA have decreased significantly:

Not only is Snyder under contract with the Jazz for at least one more season, people not authorized to speak publicly on the matter said he has become less interested in the Lakers’ job because of how the Vogel firing was handled.

There was a bit of back and forth between Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka and the media before Vogel's exit was officially announced. It sounds like this did not sit well with Snyder and it may have turned him off in terms of his perception of the Lakers front office.

It is worth noting that Snyder has been rumored to be on the hot seat in Utah and that another early exit in the playoffs could lead to his removal from his post. This is going to be interesting.
