According to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Lakers are among the NBA's front-running teams in the hunt for Jamil Wilson.
Wilson, now 27 years of age, was recently waived by the L.A. Clippers. Wojnarowski reports that the Lakers might consider signing the Wisconsin native to a ten-day deal.
Wilson's collegiate career was split between two schools: the University of Oregon and Marquette University. He went undrafted in 2014, but later joined the Washington Wizards as a member of their Summer League team. The 6-7 forward was picked up by the Pheonix Suns after that, but was waived just a few weeks later.
Wilson has played on several teams in the NBA's Developmental League — both D and G Leagues, including the Bakersfield Jam (now known as the Northern Arizona Suns), Texas Legends (Dallas Mavericks affiliate), and Agua Caliente Clippers (L.A. Clippers affiliate).
Wilson split much of his time this season between Agua Caliente and the Clippers. He got his first start on December 3, 2017, in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, scoring nine points in 29 minutes of action. On December 26, 2017, he recorded a season-high 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc in 19 minutes of play.
Whether or not the Lakers will pull the proverbial trigger on a short-term deal for Wilson remains to be seen, but it sounds like they're certainly interested.
