The Los Angeles Lakers are determined to get Kyrie Irving and reunite him with LeBron James, but unfortunately for the Purple and Gold, the Brooklyn Nets are not interested in what they have to offer.

Apparently, in order to pull off a sign-and-trade for Irving, the Lakers are offering Russell Westbrook, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN (via Nets Daily). As reported earlier, though, the Nets didn't want it or any of the trade packages they are willing to give.

It would certainly be an interesting scenario if the Lakers and Nets agree to a Kyrie Irving and Russell Westbrook swap. After all, it will basically reunite two former teammates (although that is if Kevin Durant doesn't ask to be traded).

In terms of value, it makes a bit of sense why the Lakers are offering a deal centered around Westbrook. Both Russ and Kyrie are coming off forgettable seasons, and while Irving performed well in the games he played, his antics and behavior has severely decreased his appeal and overall value–hence, the lack of interest from other teams.

A lot can happen between now and when free agency opens on Thursday, but the Irving situation is definitely the one to watch. After all, if he decides to leave, KD himself could end up leaving the franchise to seek for a team where he can contend in his remaining prime years.
