The Los Angeles Lakers hold the luxury of possessing the second overall pick in this year’s Draft.

As such, it has been quite a thorough pre-draft process for the Lakers in determining which player the organization is aiming to take with the selection. According to Broderick Turner of the LA Times, Los Angeles appears to be torn between UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball and Kansas swingman Josh Jackson.

But according to several NBA officials who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter because no decision has been made yet, the Lakers are split over whether to use their No. 2 pick in the NBA draft on Ball or Jackson.

It was originally thought that the Lakers were enamored with Ball, but as the weeks passed since landing the second overall spot in the draft, the team has grown farther away from that assessment with the numerous prospects that they’ve brought in for workouts.

One of which has been Jackson, who the team brought in for a second workout on Tuesday afternoon, which happened to be the first private session with the Lakers in the pre-draft process. They had also attended his workout in Sacramento last Thursday.

That said, the Lakers are set to take a second look at Ball on Friday where the main focus will be on his full training regimen along with condition and on-court drills. There were reports that the 19-year-old didn’t exactly blow away the team in his initial workout while raising questions concerning his conditioning.

What also should be taken into consideration is that the Lakers are also going to hold their first workout with Washington point guard Markelle Fultz this week.

It’s clear that the Lakers have yet to make up their mind, but more clarity should be reached in the next few days with the draft being just over a week away.
