After an incredible run for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2019-20 NBA campaign, the season has been put on hold with no telling when the league may get back underway. The season could simply get canceled or resume at some point during the summer.

With the Lakers now in a holding pattern with the rest of the league, five-time NBA champion Magic Johnson sent a message to fans about to combat the coronavirus during this confusing and scary time. The league posted Magic's video message on their Twitter account on Monday.

On Sunday, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that he's taking executive action to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. As a result, a number of establishments in Los Angeles will be forced to closed, including bars, nightclubs, movie theaters, and gymnasiums until the end of the month.

Along with Mayor Garcetti taking action, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recommended that gatherings of 50 or more people be prevented for two months moving forward. This is a drastic change, but something that may need to happen in order to keep people safe and healthy during this time of crisis in the United States.

Only time will tell how long this will last and how long preventive measures will be put in place, which results in basketball not being played or any other professional sport in this country for that matter. It may very well be quite some time before LeBron James and the Lakers get back on the court, but the meantime, it is about staying healthy and safe as this country goes through an unprecedented time in history.
