The Tennessee Titans made a move to bolster their defense before Tuesday’s trade deadline as they acquired cornerback Desmond King from the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers will receive a 2021 sixth-round pick.

The Titans defense has been suspect at times this season, especially in the defensive backfield. So much so that the Titans may have been fielding the worst corner in the NFL so far this season.

Tyler Rowland, the host of the daily Locked On Titans podcast, broke down the numbers on how bad cornerback Chris Jackson has been this season. Moreover, how the Titans will no longer need to put him on the field after trading for King.

Rowland: In the slot, we have seen seventh-round rookie Chris Jackson get the most opportunities and at this time he is currently ranked 115 out of 115 qualified cornerbacks per Pro Football Focus with a 33.1 overall grade and a 33.2 coverage grade. So simply the worst cornerback play in the NFL has come from Chris Jackson. Raw stats bear that out as well. He has been targeted 25 times, given up 20 completions, for 201 yards, two touchdowns, and a 126 quarterback rating when throwing his direction but it is not just that. He’s missed five tackles on the year, two of those being for sacks. So when you look at the performance of JuJu Smith-Schuster for the Steelers in Week 7, you look at the performance of Tyler Boyd in week eight for the Bengals, and you can see why and how the other teams are taking advantage of Chris Jackson.
