Ahri is the latest League of Legends champion to get a mini-rework, as announced earlier today. The Ahri changes are expected to hit live servers in Patch 12.3, sometime in February.

A tweet from Champion Designer August “Riot August” Browning confirmed the changes and their goals for Ahri. Browning said they wanted Ahri to “lean into her mobile mage identity by allowing her R to partially reset, giving her more opportunities to carry in fights”. Her passive was also reworked to “be more useful in lane”.

In general, the Ahri rework is made so players feel better casting her spells in lane. The full list of changes are as follows:

Base Stats

Nerfed to offset the other changes, and to make her squishier to fit the Mage role.

  • Health: 526 + 92 per level >>> 480 + 82 per level
  • Health Regen: 5.5 >>> 2.5
  • Armor: 21 >>> 18

Passive – Essence Theft

A big part of the Ahri rework. Changed to be more useful in lane.

  • Killing minions or monsters grants Ahri an Essence Fragment.
  • After obtaining 9 Fragments, Ahri consumes them to heal for 40 – 120 (+25% AP).
  • When Ahri scores a takedown against an enemy champion within 3 seconds of damaging them, she feasts upon their Essence, healing for 80 – 200 (+35% AP) .
  • Brand new VFX + SFX for all skins.

Q – Orb of Deception

Nerfed slightly.

  • Mana Cost: 65 – 85 >>> 60 – 100

W – Fox-Fire

Buffed for better reliability in lane.

  • Damage: 40 – 140 >>> 60 – 160
  • Mana Cost: 45 >>> 25
  • Flame Duration: 5s >>> 2.5s
  • Movement Speed Duration: 1.5s >>> 2s
  • Updated last hitting logic and cleaned up VFX

E – Charm

Adjusted to give more frontloaded damage.

  • Damage: 60 – 180 (+40% AP) >>> 80 – 200 (+60% AP)
  • Mana Cost: 70 >>> 50
  • REMOVED: no longer grants a 20% damage amp on the target.

R – Spirit Rush

The biggest change in the Ahri rework. Buffed to provide partial resets and longer duration.

  • Duration: 10s >>> 15s
  • NEW: Consuming a champion's Essence with Essence Theft (P) while Spirit Rush is active extends its recast duration by upt to 10s and grants an additional cast of Spirit Rush, up to 3 stored.
  • Cleaned up VFX and added Ammo Bar icons.

These changes give Ahri more identity as a mobile mage. While she is now squishier than before, she gained more potential to pop off in fights. These changes shouldn't make her feel like a completely different champion, but the subtle “refresh” should still be felt. She also now has the potential to be a sustain mage, with Essence Theft healing her for a significant amount.

The Ahri rework makes her squishier, but her increased mobility and sustain makes up for it. Ahri players can rejoice with the changes their champion got.
