When one has been around the NBA as long as Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has, you tend to experience it all. Unfortunately, one of those experiences is seeing an elite teammate, in this case, big man Anthony Davis go down with an injury.

Per Ryan Ward of Lakers Daily, LeBron had a simple reaction to the sorry development.

“I've been there before.”

Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love were all mentioned by LeBron. The downside to having superstar teammates is that there is usually not enough cap space to add depth to the squad. Hence, when a Davis or an Irving gets hurt, their production is near-impossible to replace for extended periods.

Of course, ring-chasing veterans on team-friendly contracts and savvy acquisitions can counter this. The Lakers only have two bonafide superstars in LeBron and AD but have many contributors such as Dennis Schroder, Kyle Kuzma, Alex Caruso, and Montrezl Harrell.

With the Lakers' victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, they now trail only the Utah Jazz in the crowded Western Conference with a 22-7 record. As good as the defending champions are, the roster is constructed to be even better in the postseason. But if Davis, who'll miss two to three weeks, cannot return to good health, the Lakers' chance at back-to-back championships are slim to none.

While Davis has had a slow start to the season, he is still a game-changer on both ends. He does his best work in the post, but can comfortably score from anywhere. On defense, he is an eraser, who can body up bigs and switch on to smaller forwards and even guards.

LeBron James can only hope Davis will return sooner than later.
