According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie will feature cameos from prominent NBA and WNBA players such as Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis, Chris Paul, Draymond Green, Kyle Kuzma, Nneka Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike. Also, much like the original Space Jam, Space Jam: A New Legacy will feature LeBron James playing alongside Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck and Tweety.
Nevertheless, during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, James admitted that when he was younger, he had a goal of making a better version of the original version, which starred NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan. However, as he got older, he realized that he just wanted to make the best version for himself.
“In my younger days, part of my thinking was ‘”Space Jam” was so good, how can I top this? There’s always going to be conversations about LeBron James trying to do everything Michael [did]. But I’ve gotten older, and you know who you are. You know what you stand for.”
Space Jam: A New Legacy, which is directed by Malcolm D. Lee, is set to be released in theaters and on HBO Max on July 16th.
