LoL Esports has announced the schedule for the upcoming League of Legends Worlds 2022, as well as a welcome surprise for LEC fans.

LoL Worlds 2022 Dates

Worlds 2022 begins September 29 in Mexico City, Mexico, and the Finals is set to happen on November 5 in San Francisco, California. The Worlds 2022 dates and schedule is as follows:

  • Play-Ins: September 29-October 4 at the Arena Esports Stadium at Artz Pedregal in Mexico City, Mexico;
  • Groups: October 7-10 and October 13-16 at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York City;
  • Quarterfinals: October 20-23 at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York City;
  • Semifinals: October 29-30 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia;
  • Finals: November 5 at Chase Center in San Francisco, California.

The LCL, the Eastern European Championship, will not be able to participate in Worlds 2022. Due to this, as well as having the “best performance during international events over the past two years but does not already have 4 seeds,” LoL Esports has granted the LEC a fourth slot.

This change makes LCS the only one out of the four major regions with less than four representatives in Worlds. Rumors about the Chinese teams from the LPL not being able to participate due to COVID-19 restrictions are circulating, but no official statement has been made by either LoL Esports or LPL. The teams from the VCS region from Vietnam are also set to make a re-debut to the Worlds Stage after being unable to participate for the past two Worlds.

As such, the 12 representatives starting at the Play-In Stage are as follows:
