Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate could potentially be one of the players on the move before today’s trade deadline. The Lions are reportedly considering moving him, while the New England Patriots are reportedly interested in acquiring him.
But despite that speculation surrounding his future in Detroit, Tate doesn’t think he’ll end up going anywhere at the end of the day.
“I don't think they're going to trade me,” Tate told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press on Monday. “If they do, I'll be surprised, but it's a business so I guess we got a few hours. A few hours and we'll see.”
Tate is having another strong season for the Lions. He’s got 44 catches for 517 yards — both of which lead the team — with three touchdowns as he’s right on pace to record his third-straight 1,000-yard season.

But with Tate in the final year of his contract, there remains a very real chance the Lions decide to get what they can for him now instead of letting him walk at the end of the season.
Moreover, the Lions have still have two very capable receivers in Marvin Jones and emerging star Kenny Golladay, who would take on an even bigger role within the offense if Tate is traded.
Whatever happens, Tate won’t have very much longer to wait before he finds out his fate for the remainder of the season.
