New York Giants beat reporter Jordan Raanan said on his “Breaking Big Blue” podcast the team had conversations with the Detroit Lions regarding wide receiver Kenny Golladay.

However, Raanan subsequently dismissed the notion Golladay could be heading to the Big Apple after a Bleacher Report tweet linked “Babytron” and the Giants citing his podcast.

Raanan reported there were brief talks between the Lions and Giants regarding Golladay. However, the phrasing makes it sound as if those talks failed to generate any real steam:

“I had heard something about this last week,” Raanan said, via Dan Benton of USA TODAY. “There was at least some conversation about the Giants talking to the Lions about wide receiver Kenny Golladay. My understanding is that it did happen in some shape or form.”

The two teams would make for rather curious trading partners.

New York is all but out of the NFC playoff picture at beginning the year 1-6, while the Lions are still very much in the thick of it at 3-3 on the season.

Golladay has also been Detroit's top receiving option. The Chicago native has 20 catches for 338 yards and a pair of scores in four games. Golladay is one of the elite deep threats in the NFL, and a big target around the goal line.

That said, the 26-year-old will also be a free agent at the end of the season, which would probably be the reason Detroit would even consider shopping Golladay.

Still, Raanan does not wish for this rumor to get blown out of proportion. He made sure to clarify there is little chance the Giants actually trade for Golladay, in spite of talks.
