Milner has extended his stay with Liverpool for another season, with his new contract set to expire in June of 2023, at which point thereās a real chance the versatile midfielder leaves the club. Milner has been at Liverpool since 2015, when he joined from Manchester City.
He has spent seven seasons calling Anfield home, featuring in a total of 199 Premier League matches during his tenure at Liverpool. Heās started 128 games in the league, scoring 19 goals and providing 25 assists.
One of the more decorated players in Premier League history, Milner has won three EPL titles, including two at Manchester City, and one with Liverpool in 2019-20. He saw his playing time reduced drastically over the past few seasons. During the last three years, Milner has featured in a total of 72 matches in Englandās top flight but made just 29 starts.
His versatility helped him stay in the team, picking up game time at left-back, as well as his usual role in the midfield, but at 36 years old, Milner doesnāt figure to win a starting place back at Liverpool anytime soon. Still, heāll remain with the club for an eighth season in 2022-23, having agreed to lower his salary in pursuit of another Premier League trophy.
