The Minnesota Lynx take on the Dallas Wings. Our WNBA odds series has our Lynx Wings prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Lynx Wings.

This game is the first game for the WNBA after a brief pause in the season to accommodate the Commissioner's Cup final on Tuesday. The rest of the league did not play a single game from Monday through Wednesday. The Lynx, however, were in the cup final on Tuesday, beating the New York Liberty in a very impressive display. The Lynx were 5.5-point underdogs at tipoff time, but they took a 10-point lead early in the fourth quarter on New York's home floor and wound up winning by five. Minnesota's defense was excellent in the first three quarters, and the offense did enough to fend off New York's late surge. The Lynx are now 2-0 versus the Liberty this season, which is a very significant achievement given that the Liberty have looked like the best team in the WNBA for a large portion of the season to date. The Lynx have firmly established themselves as a top-four team in the league. They join the Liberty and Connecticut Sun in the top three of the standings, with the Las Vegas Aces playing like a top-four team now that Chelsea Gray is back in their lineup.

The Lynx are playing their best ball of the season. The fact that they played the Liberty on Tuesday could make them somewhat vulnerable to this game on Thursday afternoon in Dallas. The Lynx played a draining game in New York and now have to play a midday game against a very rested opponent which has been able to hit the reset button after a few days off.

It will be interesting to see how the Lynx handle this trap game, which is an obvious letdown spot for a good team against a struggling opponent.

Why The Lynx Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Lynx are playing outstanding defense in their surge up the standings. Against the Seattle Storm, Atlanta Dream, and Phoenix Mercury, the Lynx played elite shutdown defense, never allowing their opponents to get comfortable. The Lynx continued to play strong defense most of the night in their win over the Liberty on Tuesday. They were especially effective in the third quarter, limiting the high-octane Liberty to just 10 points and taking command of the game before wobbling a little on defense in the fourth quarter. No matter. The Lynx overcame their brief defensive lapse with more than enough offense in a 94-89 win. This team is getting substantial contributions from a lot of different players. That is mostly a reflection of how well this team is playing at the defensive end of the floor, but it's also in evidence at the offensive end. The Lynx and the Las Vegas Aces have been the two best teams in the W over the past 10 days.

Why The Wings Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Wings are rested. The Lynx might be worn down after playing the Commissioner's Cup final on Tuesday and then having a short turnaround for a midday weekday game. It's a classic letdown spot for Minnesota. The spread is also large, being double digits.

Final Lynx-Wings Prediction & Pick

The Lynx are a lot better, but this is a letdown spot and the spread is 10.5 points. We will lean to the Lynx but will recommend you stay away from this one.
