Nikolas Vucevic, who recently agreed to a max deal with the Orlando Magic, revealed that the team was always his ‘first choice' in free agency.

The 7-foot Montenegrin center recently agreed to a four-year, $100 million deal to stay with the Magic. This came after the best season of his career so far that saw him average 20.8 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists. His performance helped Orlando qualify for the postseason for the first time since the 2012-2013 season.

In an interview with Josh Robbins of The Athletic, the 28-year-old Vucevic revealed that he wanted to stay in Orlando through and through.

“It was pretty simple. Orlando was always my first choice. They knew that, and they wanted me to stay. It was just about making it work,” Vucevic said.

“The thing that made everything easier is that the Magic wanted me back, and I wanted to stay. It was just about making things work, and we were able to do that in the end. So it wasn’t too stressful.”

Vucevic, who's been with the Magic since 2012, noted that him being in Orlando for quite some time was a big factor in his choice. Apart from which, he believes that the Steve Clifford-coached squad already has some great young players they can work on.

Furthermore, Vooch shared his desire to play for a franchise for a long time. All of these things factored into his decision to agree with the hefty deal.
