It was yet another disappointing season for the Orlando Magic in 2021/22, collecting an Eastern Conference worst 22-60 record. There is no question this team is still rebuilding, with the likes of Cole Anthony, Jalen Suggs, Franz Wagner, and Mo Bamba headlining their young core.

Then, there's veteran Terrence Ross. At 31-years-old, he's one of the oldest players on the roster and was expected to be moved at the 2021 trade deadline alongside Nikola Vucevic, Evan Fournier, and Aaron Gordon. However, he ultimately stayed put and even stuck around through the 2022 deadline in February. But with just one year remaining on his current deal with the Magic, Ross has made it rather clear he would welcome a change of scenery.

Via Khobi Price of The Orlando Sentinel:

“We’re definitely in different spots,” Ross said. “I feel like I’m a part of that old regime, and they’re going in a different direction. I don’t know what they’ve got in store for me. It’s hard to say. They don’t really let me know too much about what they’re doing. I’m kind of here just along for the ride.”

The Magic are going young, while Ross isn't exactly a spring chicken anymore. He could find a much better role elsewhere. In 63 games this past season, the veteran averaged 10 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists on a dreadful 29% clip from downtown, a career-worst. Ross also played just 23 minutes per game, substantially lower than his first four seasons with Orlando.

The writing is on the wall. Trade Terrence Ross.
