Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter Jr left Friday night's game in a wheelchair with a scary leg injury. The injury didn't look good and likely sparked fear that the young Orlando center was dealing with a long-term injury as the franchise awaited tests. The Magic provided an update on Carter's right leg injury following an MRI.

Carter, per the Magic, is dealing with a lower right leg muscle strain, which will leave him doubtful to suit up for his team's Saturday night contest against the Brooklyn Nets.

Considering how bad it looked when Carter was unable to walk off the court under his own power, Magic fans should be somewhat relieved that the team didn't instantly rule the young center out for the contest against Brooklyn.

While Carter is unlikely to play, it sounds like he could make his return to the court sooner rather than later if he responds well to treatment. It appears, for now, that Orlando dodged a bullet when it comes to the Wendell Carter injury.

Carter has been great for the Magic this year, as he has averaged career-highs in points, rebounds, and assists while expanding his offensive repertoire beyond the three-point line.

With fellow centers Mo Bamba and Mo Wagner out, among other absences, the Magic will need contributions across the board from role players such as Chuma Okeke, Robin Lopez and BJ Johnson.

Fortunately, it sounds like the Magic will have Wendell Carter Jr back for reinforcements sooner than they thought.
