One Eastern Conference executive believes Orlando Magic power forward Aaron Gordon will be traded this offseason, per Sean Deveney of Forbes.

The Magic came close to trading Gordon at the 2020 trade deadline but were asking for too much in return.

“They were really trying to deal him before the deadline but they weren’t getting the assets back they wanted,” the exec said about Magic big man Aaron Gordon.

“It will be easier to move that contract when it’s only got two years left. He’s probably the most likely big name to be traded. He’s a good gamble—he is only 24.”

Before the 2019-20 season got suspended in March due to COVID-19, Gordon was averaging 14.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 58 games for Orlando. He was also shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 30.1 percent from beyond the arc and 67.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The Magic are trying to make the playoffs for the second consecutive season. They will be in the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference standings once the bubble games begin on Thursday. Orlando will face the Brooklyn Nets, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans in the eight seeding games. The Magic and Nets will play each other twice.

Since getting drafted by the Magic, Gordon has put up 12.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 399 regular-season games. The high-flyer signed a four-year, $80 million deal with Orlando in the summer of 2018. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2022.
