With Manchester City and Manchester United facing off this weekend at Old Trafford, City boss Pep Guardiola says that the team must beware of the danger Cristiano Ronaldo poses.
Amid the managerial crisis at Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo has been in excellent form in the past few weeks—saving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from being sacked by United. Against Tottenham Hotspur, he scored an insanely perfect volley against French keeper Hugo Lloris and provided an assist to Edison Cavani later on in the match.
Ronaldo has also been United's savior in the UEFA Champions League. The 5-time Balon d'Or winner scored a brace, including a 91st-minute equalizer against Atalanta which puts the Red Devils tied at the top of Group F with Villareal.
Even if Ronaldo has been making headlines over the past few days, Guardiola admits he didn't see the thrilling Champions League match against Atalanta. He also notes that Man City must be wary of the threat Ronaldo poses even if there are mixed emotions in the United dressing room.
Via Manchester Evening News:
“I didn't see the United match [against Atalanta], I'm going to analyse and to see what they are so I know how good they are,” said Guardiola in his post-match press conference. “We saw it last season. They have one of the best players in history, a guy who can be a scoring machine.”
Surely an exciting Manchester Derby awaits football fans around the world and Man City will look to capitalize on a split United dressing room but must be cautious since the Red Devils will have an extra day of rest ahead of the tension-filled tie.
