Manchester United has found their next manager. Well, for the time being. The club has appointed German Ralf Rangnick as their interim boss, with the ex-Leipzig gaffer set to sign a six-month deal with the Red Devils. Via The Athletic:

As noted, he won't be in charge at Chelsea this weekend, but it's expected that Rangnick will likely be with Man United by next week. The 63-year-old is known as one of the best German coaches around and is leaving his current role at Lokomotiv Moscow, where he is the head of sports and development for the Russian giants.

After his contract is up in May at Old Trafford, Rangnick is expected to take on a consultant role with the Premier League giants. While United's search for a permanent replacement continues, this is certainly a good option for the time being. Rangnick has coached Hannover, Leipzig, and Schalke, among others.

He even helped Ulm earn their first-ever promotion to the Bundesliga in the early 2000s. Rangnick's experience goes much further than managing, though, enjoying successful spells as the director of football at Salzburg and Leipzig.

Man United believes he will be the right man for the job as the side looks to climb up the Premier League table, where they currently sit in the eighth spot. They fired Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last weekend following a humiliating 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford.
