Manchester United have identified Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon to sort out their left-back crisis. The Red Devils are without a left-back after only three games due to the injuries of Luke Shaw and Tyrel Malacia.

According to the reports from Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have officially agreed to sign Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur. BBC journalist David Ornstein has also shared this report.

Manchester United’s initial target was Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella. However, that deal is likely to collapse because the Red Devils want the agreement to terminate the deal in January. Chelsea has refused the offer, which means that the former Brighton man will likely stay at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United’s only left-back choice at the moment is Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese defender looked suspect in the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest last week. Against Arsenal, there is no doubt that the Bakayo Saka would be licking his lips going up against him.

Hence, the signing of Reguilon is more of a panic buy that can do the job for Erik ten Hag in a little while. The Dutchman will still prefer Shaw once the English defender returns from January. This is the reason why he wants the contract termination as part of the agreement, as he doesn’t want a lot of players on the club’s wage bill.

Alongside Reguilon, Manchester United are still in the market for a midfielder. There are reported talks with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat and Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. It remains to be seen who, if any, ends up being at Old Trafford.
