“I'm baaaack!” were the figurative words of Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol as he announced his recovery from knee surgery on Monday with a Jack Torrance meme from the film “The Shining.”

The 7-foot-1 Spaniard was diagnosed with a non-displaced Type II fracture of his navicular bone and forced to sit out the rest of the season back in early February.

Gasol averaged 16.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.3 blocks on 46.4 percent shooting in 52 appearances last season for the 42-40 Grizzlies, who were later swept out of the opening round of the playoffs by the San Antonio Spurs.

Memphis will surely benefit from Marc Gasol's contributions on the defensive end, as the holes in their defense plagued them in the latter part of the regular season. Offensively, the addition of Chandler Parsons should ease some of the scoring load that has rested on his shoulders the last few seasons.
