Julio Rodriguez is representing the Seattle Mariners at the 2022 MLB All-Star Game. The 21-year-old center fielder has been sensational in his rookie season and now has an accolade to prove it.

Rodriguez, as a highly touted Mariners prospect in center field, has always gotten comparisons to Ken Griffey Jr. Now, his name sits alongside The Kid in team history. Those two, along with Alex Rodriguez, are the only Mariners to be named All-Stars before they turn 22 years old. After matching the two legends in a different feat, it is now clear that Rodriguez is one of the best young players the Mariners have ever had, especially in recent memory.

Rodriguez's 21 steals tie for the most in the AL. Entering today's game, he also has 88 hits, 17 doubles, 15 home runs and a slash line of .274/.335/.480 in 85 games. He leads the team in slugging percentage and, along with first baseman Ty France, is playing a massive role in the Seattle offense.

The Mariners spent a lot of resources trying to ensure they would make the playoffs this season. So far, they have a record of 45-42 and are on the cusp of securing a Wild Card spot. Although the AL has plenty of teams competing for a berth, Rodriguez leads a team full of talent that could secure one of the spots.

Julio Rodriguez will be a blast to watch in the 2022 MLB All-Star Game and may even participate in the Home Run Derby. The Mariners have a young star on their hands. Behind their star outfielder, their 20-year playoff drought should be over soon.
