The Seattle Mariners are undeniably the hottest team in baseball. They extended their win streak to 14 games on Sunday night. They catapulted themselves over .500 and into second place in the American League West.

Seattle will send two players to the All-Star Game on Tuesday. Superstar rookie Julio Rodriguez went in among the initial All-Star team on July 10. And first baseman Ty France went in as a replacement on Sunday night.

The Mariners extended their winning streak with a 6-2 win over the Texas Rangers. France contributed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to straightaway left field to make it 3-1 Seattle.

Afterward, Rodriguez hit a two-run double in the top of the seventh. France hit a single to straightaway left field to bring home Rodriguez and make the game 6-1 for Seattle.

“I think it'll be good for us to kind of let our bodies recover,” France said after the game when asked about being selected. “There's a lot of guys in that locker room, they play every day, they're playing hurt, they're playing banged up. These next couple of days will be good for them and hopefully we can just keep that rolling.”

Rodriguez declined to speak to the media following the game. He took to social media afterward to share his thoughts on the win:

France, formerly of the San Diego Padres, wasn't expecting to go to Los Angeles. The Mariners' first baseman did not expect himself to be a replacement. Nonetheless, he will make the trip to Dodger Stadium.

“It had kind of gotten to the point where that kind of hope was out the window,” said France. “I was getting ready for the game, and it all went down.”

Rodriguez seems to be happy about the company, as Mariners manager Scott Servais joked about it with reporters after the ball game.

“Julio said he needed someone to babysit him,” Servais said. “So Ty will have his work cut out for him.”
