The Phoenix Suns took a huge blow to their Summer League campaign as their promising young forward, Marquese Chriss, suffered what appeared to be a significant ankle injury during their game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday.

In the early minutes of the second quarter, the 20-year-old Washington product twisted his ankle and was visibly in pain. He was unable to stand on his own and needed to be helped by his teammates out of the floor.

The extent of the injury is still unknown at this point, but it is expected that Chriss will undergo some x-rays to check if there's any structural damage to his ankle. Last season, he was able to play in all 82 games for the Suns, averaging decent numbers of 9.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per game.

If there's any good news for the Suns, it's still early days in the summer and the 20-year-old will have additional time to recover from the injury. It will also allow some of their young prospects to showcase their skills as the team looks to build the best possible lineup they can have once the regular season starts in October.
