DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks were defeated by the Minnesota Timberwolves 105-100 in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. It was a frustrating defeat for Dallas, but the Mavs still hold a 3-1 lead in the series.

Anthony Edwards led the way for Minnesota on Tuesday night. He scored 29 points on 11-25 shooting from the field and 2-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Edwards added 10 rebounds and nine assists in the Timberwolves' win.

“Yeah great effort,” Luka Doncic said of Edwards while speaking to reporters after the game. “He's an amazing player so he's gonna play great.”

Doncic also played well. He almost led the Mavs to a come-from-behind victory, but the effort fell short in the end. Nevertheless, Luka finished the game with 28 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists.

But it was Edwards who led his team to the win on Tuesday night.

“He's been pretty consistent,” Kyrie Irving said of Edwards. “Just in terms of coming at us and having a no fear mentality like I talked about before. But also, he's very confident in himself. If I'm on that other side I don't want to lose either. That's usually when great players go deep into their bag. They start bringing out things that they know that they're great at to adjust to what the defense is throwing at them. If they convert, they convert.

“He's gonna keep firing away so we just gotta be prepared to show him bodies… Yeah, make it tough on him.”

The Mavs made things interesting in the end. Each game has been competitive and there were a few moments where it seemed as if Dallas was going to earn another narrow victory.

However, Edwards did everything he could to ensure that Minnesota's season would not come to an end in the game. Mavs head coach Jason Kidd also shared his thoughts on the young Timberwolves star.

“He's been playing at a high level all season,” Kidd said. “He's one of the best young players, take the young part off, he's one of the best players in this league. Again, give Minnesota credit. They fought, they found a way to extend the series. Now it goes back to Minnesota.”

“He came out with energy,” Daniel Gafford added in reference to Edwards' performance. “You can't put too many words to that. He came out ready to play.”

The Mavs know they are still in command of the series. But they cannot afford to let the Timberwolves capture the momentum. One win is not the end of the world, but Minnesota will begin feeling especially confident with back-to-back victories.

The Mavs will look to bounce back against Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves in Minnesota in what should be another exciting game on Thursday.
