This coming season, Dirk Nowitzki will not be the only German international in the Dallas Mavericks‘ roster, as the team has reportedly signed Maxi Kleber recently on a partially-guaranteed, one-year deal. The 6-foot-9 forward also hails from Wurzburg, which is the former MVP’s hometown in Germany.

After going undrafted in the 2014, Kleber decided to return to Europe and played a season in Spain, before moving to his country’s professional league and suiting up for Bayern Munich the past two seasons. Scouts were impressed with the improvement he’s had in his game, as he also became a two-time BBL All-Star, and was named to the All-EuroCup Second Team.

Kleber is expected to also spend some time with the Mavs' G-League affiliate, the Texas Legends, to give him more playing time, and help him adjust to the style of play in the United States.

He is considered a raw talent that has the potential to follow Nowitzki's footsteps, given his skill set. With the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter, extending to beyond the arc, and also attack the basket when needed, Kleber could be a fixture in the teams' lineup in the coming years should his development go according to plan.
