Heading into his rookie season with the Dallas Mavericks, there is plenty of hype built around point guard Dennis Smith Jr.

He was regarded as one of the most athletically-gifted players in this year's draft class, which he put on full display against a fan in a pickup game by dunking all over him and even added insult to injury when Smith stepped over his opponent as he laid on the floor.

Things quickly got ugly for the young fan as Dennis Smith Jr. completely dominated him on the court in the quick game of one-on-one. What may have spiked the intensity level from the former NC State product was the sight of the fan clapping his hands while playing defense to signal that he wanted to take on the challenge of defending an NBA player.

This only sparks more excitement to what may lie ahead for Smith in a Mavs uniform. The 19-year-old had a promising performance in the Las Vegas Summer League where he averaged 17.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 2.2 steals per game while helping lead the Mavericks to a 5-1 record.

Dennis Smith Jr. has a chance to make a tremendous impact in his first season with Dallas where he could see himself vie for the NBA Rookie of the Year award.
