Dallas Mavericks superstar Dirk Nowitzki was left in awe with Stephen Curry's performance on Wednesday night.

Curry exploded for the Golden State Warriors in their showdown with the New Orleans Pelicans at the Oracle Arena. The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player erupted for 23 points in the third period against the Pelicans, leading the Warriors to a 147-140 win against New Orleans.

The 30-year-old superstar converted six of his seven attempts from beyond the arc during that stretch. While Curry was tearing up the Pelicans, Dirk Nowitzki took to Twitter to express his reaction over Steph's explosion.

Curry eventually finished with 41 points on 11-for-22 shooting to go along with five rebounds and three assists. The sharpshooting guard also knocked down a total of nine three-pointers, which came after converting 19 attempts from beyond the arc in their previous two games.

Curry was not a one-man wrecking crew for the Warriors, getting a lot of help from his fellow superstars. Kevin Durant finished with 30 points to go along with 15 rebounds. Klay Thompson tallied 19 points, while Draymond Green had a huge double-double with 17 points and 14 assists.

With the win, the Warriors improved to 31-14 to remain on top of the Western Conference standings. Before the victory against the Pelicans, Golden State sent a strong message to the rest of the league with a 142-111 blowout win against the Denver Nuggets, who were on top of the West before the match on Tuesday.

Golden State is about to get stronger, at least on paper, as they are set to boost their starting lineup. Superstar center DeMarcus Cousins is about to make his highly anticipated return for the Warriors after sitting out for almost a year due to a torn left Achilles tendon.
