Dirk Nowitzki is trekking through his 20th season in the league with the Dallas Mavericks with the constant chatter surrounding him about his long-term future.

The 39-year-old once again touched upon the topic where he provided more insight in what will signal he will have to finally hang it up, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

“It's how the body feels,” Nowitzki told ESPN, adding that the Mavs' place in the standings won't play a part in his decision.

“I'd love to play every game. I'm not sure how realistic it is, but that's how I approached the season. I want to be out there, want to move and want to be out there with the guys. We'll just have to sit and relax [after] I play through the season and see how I feel. Probably that decision won't be made until the summer.”

Nowitzki still holds the passion to continue playing, but it will all come down to how his body responds following this season. He has been able to play in all 14 games this season while seeing a steady workload in limited action in 23.9 minutes contest while averaging 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds.

He has maintained through the process that he hopes to play as long as he is able to handle the physical rigors that come with an entire NBA season.

If this stays the course, there is no reason to believe he won't give it a go for the 2019-20 season, which holds a club option worth $5 million.
