Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks are fresh off a huge 112-85 win on the road against Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies Friday night, but the good news doesn't stop there for the Mavs. According to Tim McMahon of ESPN, big man Kristaps Porzingis, who has yet to see any action since the calendar flipped to Year 2022, has just cleared the NBA's health and safety protocols. That means the Latvian unicorn now has the green light to play and give a tremendous boost for the Mavs, who are set to play the Orlando Magic at home this Saturday.

But is Porzingis clearing the COVID protocols enough for the Mavs to get him back on the floor right away and have him face the feeling Magic squad?

Is Kristaps Porzingis playing vs Magic

Porzingis has missed the Mavs' last seven games. The last time he stepped on the floor was late last December in Dallas' 112-96 road win against the Sacramento Kings. But even during his absence, the Mavericks have managed to keep their head afloat. In fact, in those seven games that Porzingis missed, Dallas has gone 6-1, including the aforementioned victory against the red-hot Grizzlies.

Now, even though Porzingis is out of the COVID protocols, he appears to be a long shot to make an appearance against Orlando, per Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News.

There's hope within the Mavericks organization that Kristaps Porzingis can clear health and safety protocols as soon as tomorrow, but it's extremely unrealistic to think he could play against Orlando tomorrow, and or probably even Monday against OKC. Hasn't practiced in 2 weeks.

Should Porzingis ends up sitting out the Magic game, the Mavs will continue to roll with a frontcourt that mostly oscillates between Dwight Powell and Maxi Kleber until KP makes his return to action.
