Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks absorbed yet another loss Tuesday night when they fell prey to the Washington Wizards at home, 127-126. The loss was not because of a lack of effort from Doncic, though. After all, he stuffed the stat sheets again in a huge statistical performance that put him in an extremely exclusive NBA club that includes Michael Jordan.

“Luka Doncic has 33 30-point games this season. Over the last 40 seasons, the only players with more 30-point games prior to the month of February are Michael Jordan in 1986-87 and James Harden in 2018-19,” per ESPN Stats & Info.

Luka Doncic unloaded a total of 41 points, shooting 16-for-29 from the field and 9-for-12 from the free-throw line. He missed all four of his attempts from behind the arc but came up with 15 rebounds and six assists in 38 minutes. Doncic can get almost anything he wants. He can torch every kind of defense opponents throw at him. But despite his brilliance, the Mavs are barely above .500 with a 25-24 record. Dallas has also lost five of its last six games.

After scoring just 15 points in a loss on Jan. 15 on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers, Luka Doncic has scored an average of 33.5 points in four games since.

The Mavs can't continue wasting the brilliance of Luka Doncic. It's mostly going to be up to Jason Kidd and Dallas' coaching staff to figure out a way to convert Doncic's scoring outbursts into victories before it further hurts the team's chances to make the playoffs.
