Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks suffered a rough defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, falling to their conference rivals, 116-95. But it doesn't sound like they're sweating it all that much.

The Mavs star was straightforward in emphasizing there's no reason to panic over a single game.

Via Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News:

“It’s just one night,” Doncic said. “We’ll bounce back. We’ll get ready for the next one. We missed shots, that’s it. We missed a lot of open shots,” he said. “I would take them any time. And our defense wasn’t that good.”

Mavs head coach Jason Kidd reiterated that his squad simply didn't make the shots that they needed to in order to keep pace with their opponents.

“It’s all about winning,” Kidd said, but he did add “You’re not gonna win” by shooting 38% from the field and 23% on 3-pointers as Dallas did on Friday.

Considering the Mavs just beat the same Timberwolves team two games prior and still hold a 2.5 game advantage to stave off the seventh seed in the West, they're still sitting pretty. Plus the fact that the team ahead of them for fourth place, the Utah Jazz, have lost three games in a row themselves, including Friday night as well to the Charlotte Hornets. They face off next game, holding identical 45-29 records.

“I guess we’re playing for fourth place,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. “They lost. We lost. Everybody lost. So it’s just another game, one of 82. We have to be better. We didn’t play well tonight. We’ll make the corrections.”

With the NBA entering its final stretch of games, the playoff picture is starting to look much clearer with each passing contest. Luka Doncic and the Mavs still have plenty to play for and sound ready to leave their ugly loss against the Timberwolves in the dust.
