Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has been ruled out of Saturday night's game against the Miami Heat after spraining his right ankle in the first quarter and X-rays were negative, per Mavs PR.

Doncic rolled his ankle pretty badly while driving to the basket a minute and forty seconds into the game. He stayed on the floor for quite a bit and was clutching the high ankle area, which is quite concerning.

The reigning Rookie of the Year did not put weight on his foot and needed help in going back to the locker room.

Given the information we have now, it's likely that Doncic will miss some time. For how long, we still don't know. Timelines for ankle sprains tend to vary depending on the severity and where the sprain occurred.

This is such a buzzkill for what could have been a great Saturday night match-up between two up-and-coming teams in the league.

With the Slovenian Sensation down and out, the Mavericks will have to look elsewhere for production. Given how their offense runs heavily through Doncic, it will be interesting to see how they will do so now that they don't have the primary playmaker.

Doncic finished his short night with two points and a rebound. This consequently ends his streak of 20-5-5 games at 20, the last being had a masterful triple-double performance when they played the Detroit Pistons on Thursday. He finished with 42 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists, and six three-pointers.

Stay tuned for updates on Luka Doncic's injury. Hopefully, it isn't as severe as it appeared.
