A new Disney+ MCU series about Vision (Paul Bettany) is coming from Terry Matalas (Star Trek: Picard).

This would mark Bettany's first live-action appearance in the MCU since WandaVision in 2021. Variety reported that the new series, which is still untitled, will premiere in 2026 on Disney+.

What the series is about is unclear. Perhaps Bettany will resurrect the White Vision that is seen in the finale of WandaVision. His fate is unknown and he could still be alive in the MCU.

It sounds like a Vision series has been in the works for years. Variety's report says that a series was in development with Jac Schaeffer, who created WandaVision. His attention soon went to a different MCU Disney+ series, Agatha All Along, a spin-off of WandaVision.

Terry Matalas is most associated with his role on 12 Monkeys. He co-created the series and served as the showrunner for four seasons. He has also worked on Blood Drive and MacGyver.

His work with Star Trek dates back to 2003 when he served as a writer on Star Trek: Enterprise. From 2022-23, Matalas served as a co-showrunner, writer, director, and executive producer of the second and third seasons of Star Trek: Picard.

Who is Vision in the MCU?

Paul Bettany, Vision

Vision was first introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Bettany previously voiced J.A.R.V.I.S. in the Robert Downey Jr.-led Iron Man films, his HUD operating system. J.A.R.V.I.S. took on a human form in Age of Ultron and continued onward appearing in Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.

However, he is killed by Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Infinity War. After all, he donned the Mind Infinity Stone in his head. He returned in WandaVision living a suburban life with his partner, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen).

This wasn't the real Vision, though. Wanda was living a lie and projecting the life that she wished they lived together. Bettany has not appeared on-screen in the MCU since then. He did, however, voice Vision and J.A.R.V.I.S. in several episodes of the animated What If? series.

Who is Paul Bettany?

Paul Bettany is an actor most known for his role in the MCU as both J.A.R.V.I.S. and Vision. For his performance in WandaVision, Bettany earned an Emmy nomination.

Prior to his MCU run, Bettany scored roles in films such as Kiss Kiss (Bang Bang), Gangster No. 1, A Knight's Tale, and A Beautiful Mind. He also starred in the likes of Wimbledon, Firewall, and The Da Vinci Code before landing the role of J.A.R.V.I.S.

Since starring in the MCU, Bettany has still landed high-profile roles. He has starred in Solo: A Star Wars Story, Uncle Frank, and A Very British Scandal.

Coming up, Bettany will star in Robert Zemeckis' Here. Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, and Kelly Reilly will also star in the film.
