Virtuos, the studio responsible for bringing Dark Souls to the Nintendo Switch, is reportedly making a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake.

According to an anonymous tip to VGC, Konami is planning to revitalize their hibernating Triple-A titles. This includes the likes of Silent HillCastlevania, and Metal Gear Solid. Konami's gamble to release Kojima in the wild and focus solely on pachinkos and mobile games may have backfired, provided that that pachinko industry has been struck hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, Konami is looking to bring back their old, beloved titles. While this is great news for fans, this also validates, in a way, that Konami should stay true to their Triple-A roots.

However, this does not exactly mean that Konami will be making new games in all of these iconic franchises. While new games are reportedly in the makes for Silent Hill and Castlevania, it's all remasters and remakes for Metal Gear Solid. After all, Konami has already proven themselves incapable of replicating Hideo Kojima's magic with their critically-panned Metal Gear Survive. Instead, anonymous sources tell VGC that Konami plans to put out remasters for MGS titles. On the other hand, they also report that Virtuos will be working on a Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake.

While it's not going to be an entirely new game, hearing that a remake of one of the most critically acclaimed Metal Gear Solid games is on the way is definitely great news. Metal Gear Solid 3 was last seen as a port in the Nintendo 3DS, while remaster collections are also available on home consoles. A complete remake will give the game a facelift and a chance for Virtuos to introduce new features, mechanics, and next-generation capabilities to this classic title.

In other news, Konami's eFootball just had a disastrous launch.
