The winner of the Heisman Trophy has been announced. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young won the award, becoming the second straight Crimson Tide player to win the prestigious trophy. While most people think that Young deservedly won the award, a former Michigan Wolverine vehemently disagreed.

Taylor Lewan, star tackle of the Tennessee Titans and Michigan alum, took to Twitter to express his displeasure over Wolverines DE Aidan Hutchinson losing over Bryce Young. Lewan alleged that the Heisman Trophy was “rigged” in favor of Alabama.

“Rigged! @aidanhutch97 won that by a land slide and they couldn’t handle all the Michigan success this year!”

Is the Heisman trophy voting rigged? It's more likely that the voting system is “biased” than “rigged”: only one defensive player has won the Heisman trophy. That would be Michigan alum Charles Woodson, who beat out Peyton Manning in the 1997 voting. Woodson would go on to be one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history, and would be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.

This is just a matter of one Michigan alum standing up for his home school. Aidan Hutchinson has been excellent for the Wolverines this season, as he's terrorized opposing offenses into oblivion. It's unfortunate that Hutchinson missed out on replicating a former Michigan great's achievement, but there's no doubt he'll still have a successful career either way.

As for Lewan, the former Michigan tackle is looking to help a hobbled Tennessee squad get back the first seed in the AFC. Despite injuries left and right (including Lewan suffering a scary-looking concussion in Week 6), the Titans are still very much in the playoff picture due to their hot start.
