Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax broke news several months ago. Several people considered the deal a foregone conclusion but it has yet to been officially completed. Recently, the acquisition deal took greater steps towards its long-awaited conclusion. The 7.5B USD deal recently received the approval of the European Commission and the SEC. Above all, these two bodies recognition of the deal indicates the case's nearing conclusion.

THE MICROSOFT DEAL

The European Commission provided a statement that declared the merger's validity. The statement approved the deal without changes or oppositions saying that it “does not raise serious doubts as to its compatibility with the common market.” Additionally, the Commission emphasized that the decision was formed after its rigorous review procedures and investigation.

“The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given the combined entity’s limited market position upstream and the presence of strong downstream competitors in the distribution of video games. The Commissioned examined the transaction under the normal merger review procedure.”

The approvals push the deal towards a natural conclusion but it does not automatically make the deal official. The two gigantic companies allegedly have a lot of legwork left to do to finalize the acquisition.
