The Dallas Cowboys are in unsure of the status of two key players for Sunday's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, with both DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory dealing with an undisclosed illness. Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy opened up about the injuries of his two players, and at this point, the 57-year-old is remaining optimistic.

According to McCarthy, both players are likely to take the field for the Cowboys on Sunday, despite the fact that both of them have been tagged as questionable:

“Randy is here. He’s part of the work process today,” McCarthy said Friday morning, via Charean Williams of NBC Sports. “I look for him to continue to progress. D-Law is still not here. He has the illness. I mean, everything is pointing to D-Law playing as I sit here today.”

Lawrence put pen to paper on a massive $105 million deal with the Cowboys last April, and he has since (somewhat) paid dividends for his substantial salary. The 28-year-old has produced three sacks in his last five appearances.

For his part, Gregory has been making up for lost time for the Cowboys, after serving a lengthy suspension that has extended to a few games this term.

Dallas currently sits at 2-7, and will be looking to snap their four-game skid when they face off against the Vikings on Sunday. Having both Lawrence and Gregory for that one should provide them with a much-needed boost, but it is far from a guarantee that they'll be able to produce a W.
