Boxing legend Mike Tyson has already set his sights on a new opponent as he is poised to have a rematch with former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, who recently replaced Evander Holyfield in the upcoming bout.

Via TMZ Sports:

“I'm gonna fight Lennox Lewis,” Tyson told us Tuesday night on the way out of Catch in L.A. … “September.”

The Tyson-Holyfield rivalry was supposed to have a trilogy after their well-followed encounters back in the late 1990s. The former undisputed heavyweight champion initially had talks to have a match with Holyfield on May 29 in Miami but the deal fell through as the two sides couldn't reach a final agreement.

Tyson's camp then looked for another big-time opponent until they came across Lewis who was willing to fight the boxing icon only “if the public wanted it”, per TMZ.

The two fighters already fought inside the squared circle back in June 2002 when Lewis dealt a knockout to Tyson in the eighth round of the match. The 55-year-old British-Canadian previously retired from professional boxing back in 2003 where he garnered a 41-2-1 record.

On the other hand, Tyson amassed a 50-6-0-2NC record throughout his legendary career. At age 54, he showed everyone that he is still in fine form as he looked superb in his exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. back in November of 2020.

Though the two fighters aren't in their prime anymore, the upcoming fight is still expected to be action-packed as Mike Tyson looks to avenge his loss to Lennox Lewis almost two decades later.
