Now that Formula 1 has started to gain more traction in the United States, the international racing league's continued increase in popularity has led to a higher demand for races to be held in America. With Miami set to host an F1 race for the first time in May and Las Vegas winning a bid to host in 2023, it's only a matter of time before F1 races are held in more U.S. cities.

After the success of the hit Netflix series Drive to Survive, Formula 1's reach has continued to grow across the nation. This is especially true considering that ticket sales rose 15% for last year's U.S. Grand Prix and saw the sport add 73 million new fans. With all this in the fold, we'll now discuss five American cities that must host an F1 race ASAP.

U.S. Cities that need to host an F1 race

1. Los Angeles

Back in the 1970s and 80s, F1 raced at the Long Beach street track located in Los Angeles County. With LA having one of the largest sports and entertainment markets in the world, this would be an ideal location to host a race. Bringing the excitement of F1 back to the bright lights of Hollywood would make for the ultimate headline and bring even more buzz to the best racing league in the world. Adding Los Angeles back into the mix would greatly help with F1's expansion throughout the U.S. as it continues to grow in popularity.

2. New York City

As one of the most heavily populated cities in the world, NYC would be the perfect setting for a Formula 1 race to take place. Given that New York City also has a huge sports and entertainment market, bringing the thrill of motorsports to The Big Apple would be exciting to see. Not to mention this would be a star-studded affair with lots of big names in attendance. The sights, sounds, and backdrops of NYC could make F1 a regular occurrence in the city that never sleeps.

3. Indianapolis

This great American city has a long history of putting on memorable races on a yearly basis with NASCAR and IndyCar building a strong presence there. In Indianapolis, an F1 race would be a perfect fit and bring a fun new element to this motorsports obsessed community. Adding Formula 1 to their rich racing culture would be would another big win.

Making this internationally renowned racing league a regular occurrence in one of the biggest motorsports fanbases in America seems like a no-brainer. It may be hard for them to follow-up with the Indy 500, but there's no denying how much fun it would be to have F1 in Indianapolis.

4. Chicago

Bringing the intensity and dynamism of the most exciting pro racing league to The Windy City would be an absolute blast to see. As a town that's no stranger to the sports scene, Chicago's had it's fair share of memorable moments to reminisce about. With an explosive new element like motorsports now entering the mix, this would give the Chi a fun new avenue to explore while cementing it's place in the rapidly growing F1 community.

5. Atlanta

Home to the Atlanta Motor Speedway and many exciting NASCAR races, the ATL would be another fun city to have an F1 race in. It's perfect blend of professional and collegiate sports, arts and culture, and nightlife make it the perfect setting. It's a young and vibrant town that would be an exciting new market for Formula 1. This would also add to the already massive popularity of motorsports in the southern region.
