Willson Contreras of the Chicago Cubs and his brother, William, became the 424th pair of brothers to both make it to the MLB. When the Cubs hosted the Atlanta Braves, they finally faced off against each other.

The Contreras brothers savored the moment, which occurred in the bottom of the first inning with Willson up to bat. He hit a single, stole second base and later scored on a single from Jonathan Villar.

Willson Contreras has been in MLB since 2016, winning the World Series with the Cubs as a rookie and becoming a two-time All-Star. This season, he has a .924 OPS, the best among all qualified catchers. He has 54 hits, 12 home runs and 12 doubles.

William Contreras has played with the Braves since 2020. He has been one of their key teachers along with Travis d'Arnaud, helping Atlanta win the World Series last season. In 28 games this season, he has a 1.017 OPS with nine of his 27 hits being home runs.

The last time two brothers who were catchers faced each other was in 2014 with Yadier and Jose Molina. The Contreras brothers shared a sweet moment earlier in the MLB season. They exchanged lineup cards prior to a game, with Willson shedding a few tears. The two catchers are extremely close.

There is a strong possibility that the Contreras brothers face off way more. The New York Mets, who are in the same division as the Braves, are heavily interested in trading for the two-time All-Star.
