The Boston Red Sox get set to take on the Minnesota Twins two times on Wednesday evening in a doubleheader. It’s time to continue our MLB odds series and make a Red Sox-Twins doubleheader prediction and pick.

Boston has been on an absolute tear after getting swept by the Baltimore Orioles in their opening series. Minnesota has been struggling of late with three-straight losses coming in. The Red Sox took the first game of the series and these two games will feature the top two arms in each rotation.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening Red Sox-Twins game-one odds.

MLB Odds: Red Sox-Twins Odds

Boston Red Sox +1.5 (-180)

Minnesota Twins -1.5 (+160)

Over 6 Runs (-105)

Under 6 Runs (-115)

Why The Red Sox Could Cover The Spread

The Boston Red Sox are riding a seven-game winning streak and will look to build on a scorching hot start to the 2021 season. Boston has scored 24 runs in their last three games and at least four runs in each of their last seven games. They have won every game that they've scored at least four runs in. JD Martinez is leading the way for Boston with 17 hits, five home runs, and 16 RBI on the season. It seems he has returned to form after an uncharacteristic 2020 season. Xander Bogaerts and Christian Vazquez have gotten off to great starts as well, combining for 26 hits on the young season.

The Red Sox will turn to their top two arms in the doubleheader. Nathan Eovaldi will get the nod in game one. The hard-throwing right-hander is 1-1 with a 1.46 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 2021. Left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez gets the start in game two. He is coming off of an incredible Spring Training where he went 3-0 with a 2.63 ERA in four starts. Rodriguez won his first start against the Orioles, striking out seven over five innings of work.

Why The Twins Could Cover The Spread

The Minnesota Twins will look for a much-needed win on Wednesday as they've lost four of their last six games coming in. They have scored 11 runs in their last three games and three or less in every game during the recent stretch. The lineup has been inconsistent despite the dominance of outfielder Byron Buxton. Buxton has the second-highest batting average in baseball at .469. Nelson Cruz and Andrelton Simmons have combined for 23 hits and 13 RBI on the season as well. Twins fans are hoping that slugging third baseman Miguel Sano will get his bat going soon, too.

Minnesota will have two dominant arms on the mound for the doubleheader. We'll see right-hander Kenta Maeda in game one for the Twins. Kenta is 1-0 with a 2.61 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 2021. He will make his second career start against the Red Sox. Minnesota will turn to their ace in game two as flame-throwing right-hander Jose Berrios will man the mound. Berrios is 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA and had a no-hitter through six innings in his opening start against the Brewers.

Final Red Sox-Twins Prediction & Pick

I'm predicting a split in this exciting doubleheader. The Red Sox are the hottest team in the league and will enter the box against Maeda with the utmost confidence in game one. The Twins bats are struggling and Eovaldi is not the guy you want to see if you're trying to break a slump. Look for the offense to propel the Sox to victory to open the day.

Game two should be the exact opposite as Boston will be forced to get back in the box against a stud in Jose Berrios. Your ace is supposed to be the guy that breaks a slump by throwing an absolute gem, which is what Berrios will do for his club. A Minnesota lineup that is full of right-handed power will get the bats going against a left-hander in Eduardo Rodriguez as well.
